History
Cairncastle Primary School was founded by Cairncastle presbyterian Church in 1831 in the hall of the Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church. The school later moved to new premises on the Drumnagreagh Road, adjacent to the Presbyterian Church. The building was vacated in 1979 when the present modern accommodation on the Cairncastle Road was built. An extension was completed in September 2003.
There are five modern classrooms, a resource area, a special needs room, a principal’s office, a secretary’s office and a hall. Outside there is a surfaced area with marked games, an enclosed garden with beds and almost an acre of grass.
There is excellent equipment at the school for sports, PE, music and ICT. A variety of after school clubs are held during each term catering for different ages each time. Swimming is available at Larne Leisure Centre on a Friday morning for Key Stage 2 pupils. The school football team participates regularly in local competitions and our girls' hockey team enter the annual Larne tournament around Easter.
The School Creed
This is our school.
Let peace dwell here.
Let the room be full of contentment.
Let love abide here.
Love of one another,
Love of mankind,
Love of life itself,
And love of God.
Let us remember that as many hands build a house
So many hearts make a school
